THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF EYESHADOW

LES DIFFÉRENTS TYPES DE FARDS

Who says disguise, often say make-up. Clown, animals, superheroes or skeleton, each disguise can be matched with a beautiful make-up. But which products to choose?

Here is a small summary of the 3 types of eyeshadows that you can find in our store:

  • "POWDER" EYESHADOW

Powder shadows can be used in 2 ways.

Dry, it will be less covering and less coloured. The advantage is precisely the lightness of the makeup and can be easily blended and worked. A pale complexion is easier to achieve with a dry eye shadow, for example.

Humidified, the colors will be more intense and the hold will be better. The blush will dry completely on the skin and have a matte, powdery finish.

Make-up removal is simple and will be done using soapy water, or a classic make-up remover.

Tip : To improve make-up hold, do not hesitate to apply a base to your clean, dry skin.

  • WATER-BASED EYESHADOWS

The water-based eyeshadows have a smooth creamy texture, easy to pick up and work with.

The colors are flexible according to the quantity applied. Several layers can be superimposed to improve the hold and intensity of the shadows. The creams may possibly be mixed together to obtain the desired shade.

In addition, the cream dries completely on the skin and leaves a velvety finish and (almost) without transfer.

As for the powder make-up, make-up removal will be done using soapy water, or a make-up remover.

Tip : The hold can be improved with a thin layer of powder, colored or translucent makeup, over your water-based makeup, and by using a base underneath.

  • GREASY SHADOWS

This is the most common type of eyeshadow.

It often comes in a pot or in the form of pencils.

The color is intense and the hold is optimal. However, it keeps a greasy look on the skin, which tends to transfer quite easily.

Due to its hold and its texture, the greasy make-up removes better with a make-up remover oil or a waterproof make-up remover.

Tip : The use of a base for holding is, as for the other eyeshadows, recommended.

This shadow can be powdered, in order to mattify the final rendering, but also to avoid making the cream move too much on the skin or on the clothes.

  • AND THE APP?

It all depends on what you want to do and where.

In general, fine brushes will be perfect for precise patterns or outlines.

Wide brushes, sponges (and possibly fingers) will be more suitable for completely covering a face or a large surface. Be careful though, the application with the fingers can be done with creamy shadows only and will be less uniform than with makeup tools.

  • CONCLUSION ?

Each shadow has its pros and cons. You can try each of them to form your own opinion. It's also a matter of taste: each person will necessarily have a preference, whether in terms of application, outfit or rendering.

Don't forget that the most important thing is to have fun making up, working on the colors and enjoying the result, even if it's not perfect!
